With sweet sorrow, I depart

I have no trouble saying goodbye, which may be due to the fact I do it more often than most. In fact, my college roommate remarked the other day that I’ve had more ‘going away’ parties thrown for me by age 30 than most folks get in a lifetime. To be honest, I am not sure if she was jealous of the recurring free drinks and spotlight or thankful that she doesn’t have to repeatedly be on the move and leave people behind.
I do not procrastinate or prolong saying goodbye; I do not dread it for weeks ahead of time or mislead those around me with stories about how I might not leave. Instead, I accept it as an inevitable part of life, and more specifically in my life as a military spouse. However, that does not mean I like it...

The October issue of the Insider will be out in a little over a week and I hope that it's even better than the last issue...

This does not bode well for our season, although as my husband kept reminding me - they are the reigning SuperBowl champs for a reason. Sigh. It's not like we haven't started a season 0-1 before, but it still stings...

Almost time to print...

Posted by mrenahan | 08/29/08

As I sit at my desk this Friday, deadline steadily approaching (though not as quickly as the long holiday weekend), I admit to feeling anxious. This paper is so NEW that it requires all caps titling. We have spent a lot of time getting ready and now we just have to cross our fingers and hope that everyone out there in Clay likes it. Personally I think you will, but as with anything it is a matter of taste and everyone's are different...
